February, 2023

I'll continue with the gut training throughout February and with any luck I'll get a more consistent training load spread across the month.

Famous last words from my update last month... I hit publish and promptly caught the flu, it wiped me out for a solid seventeen days.

The Bleasdale Circle Fell Race was on Saturday, 18th February. Last year I volunteered, helping in the kitchen, this year I was marshalling at Paddy's Pole... I wrote that up here, if you fancy reading more about that.

I ran six out of seven days during the last week of February, the most notable outing was a recce of the Stan Bradshaw Pendle Round which takes place on Saturday, 4th March. It's a 9 point something mile fell race starting and ending in Barley, just to the East of Pendle Hill. There's a long, steady climb up to Pendle Hill trig to get you warmed up but the crux of the route, in my opinion, is from checkpoint 2 to checkpoint 3... if the weather is clear, it won't be too tricky but if it's claggy, I can imagine it's really difficult to pick a good line down to Badger Well Water. I'll find out on Saturday!

That's about it for now... I'm not going to say anything about March.
